Xbox Announces Price Increase for Game Pass
Call of Duty and all those Bethesda games being available on 'day one' come at a price for the consumers.
Microsoft announced that the Xbox Game Pass subscription service will take a significant price increase. They also revealed a new tier coming to the service which will not include day one releases. This is the second price increase consumers have absorbed in 13 months; the previous one occurred in June 2023.
Here is a comparison of the prices:
Tier | Old Price | New Price | Difference |
Game Pass Console | $15/month | Same price | Day-one releases removed. |
Game Pass PC | $10/month | $12/month | $2/month (20% increase). |
Game Pass Ultimate | $17/month | $20/month | $3/month (15% increase). |
Xbox Core | $60/year | $75/year | 15$/year (25% increase). |
Game Pass Console will be renamed to Game Pass Standard. Unfortunately, consumers with the Standard Tier will be getting less for their money. Microsoft is basically removing the day-one release feature from it, forcing gamers who are interested in day one titles to move up to Game Pass Ultimate. However, it is important to mention that the new Standard tier will include access to online multiplayer, which Game Pass Console lacked.
Game Pass PC will still keep the day-one release feature for the time being.
The changes will take effect on September 12, just a couple of months before Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releases worldwide.
