Verstappen is a Winning Machine | Opinion

Max Verstappen has been gaining momentum and is favorite to defend his title. What makes the Dutchman unbeatable?

Ever since the 2023 Formula One season started; Red Bull have absolutely dominated it. Verstappen and Perez both fought for wins during the first few races. Despite both having reliability issues and such, they have managed to win every single race so far.

Perez is starting to yield consecutive wins to Verstappen who is poised to become World Champion once again. It seems that the Mexican driver is not able to keep up with the Dutchman's pace and dominance.

Verstappen is a hungry and ambitious driver; if you pair that up with sheer talent, you have the perfect formula (no pun intended) for a champion. His unquenchable thirst can make his rivals discouraged. Even if Verstappen is winning, he still wants the fastest lap, and does not settle for less.

He makes sure that his team knows what he wants. He is very vocal about his objectives and does not give anyone, not even his teammate, an inch. Perhaps he is a bit more rigid than Hamilton in that sense.

At least Toto was able to talk Hamilton into putting the team first in certain situations. We have seen the likes of Rosberg, Bottas, and Russell get wins or be favored during races if the situation warrants it.

Verstappen on the other hand, is vocal about his discomfort when the team needs to favor Perez. Some might say that he is not a team player, but in reality, your teammate is your first rival.

"If you ain't first, you're last." -Ricky Bobby

It is times like these that I recall the words of Ricky Bobby - "If you ain't first, you're last." World champion drivers all behave like this. Senna, Schumacher, Vettel, Hamilton, and now Verstappen. All of them have been intransigent at one point or another, leaving their teammates absolutely no room for breathing, even if it damages their relation.

If Red Bull is smart enough, they will hold their dominance before the regulation changes take place. We might see Verstappen be a 5-time world champion sooner than later. Who knows, Red Bull might carry over that momentum onto the new F1 era. If everything plays right for him, he will be the driver with the most championships before the decade ends.

What are your thoughts on Verstappen's dominance in Formula One? Will anyone challenge him? Let me know in the comments below.
